TribLive: Do you have a Game Plan For Breast Health?!
SOURCE: TribLive
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the United States; one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. Following lung cancer, it is the second leading cause of cancer death in women.
The American Cancer Society, along with their colleagues from the Allegheny County Breast Collaborative and our friends at the Pittsburgh Steelers, will present a special health Fair – Game Plan For Breast Health – at Woodlawn Park Plaza at Hazelwood Green on Sunday, October 4, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Stop by this free event to connect with local health organizations and providers to learn how to access free and low-cost breast screenings. Healthcare professionals will be on-hand to separate breast cancer facts from myths, and a special tribute will be held to recognize breast cancer warriors in our area. Steely McBeam will be there too!
If breast cancer is found early, when it’s small and has not spread, it is easier to treat successfully. Getting regular screening tests is the most reliable way to find breast cancer early. Women should discuss their individual risk factors with a healthcare provider to determine the screening plan that is right for them. This health fair will help connect women with the resources they need to protect themselves.
