Adagio Health to Honor Women’s Health Leaders at Leadership and Legacies Event

On Friday, August 8, Adagio Health will host Leadership and Legacies: Recognizing Pittsburgh Women’s Health Heroes at Roost in downtown Pittsburgh. The event will celebrate visionary leaders who have made an indelible impact on women’s health in the Pittsburgh region, featuring special awards presentations, tributes, and a gathering of community leaders from across Western Pennsylvania.

“This year’s event carries particular significance as an opportunity to recognize visionary leadership, celebrate impactful legacies, and unite our community in support of access to care for patients in need,” said Alicia Schisler, EVP and Chief of Strategy at Adagio Health. “At a time when funding for reproductive health care, Medicaid coverage, and critical nutrition programs like SNAP-Ed is increasingly uncertain, Leadership and Legacies is more than a celebration—it is a statement of purpose, advocacy, and unity.” Schisler has been named Adagio Health’s new President and CEO starting September 1, 2025.

The evening will be emceed by Michael Bartley, KDKA Radio Host and Vice Chair of the Adagio Health Board, and will include remarks from Immediate Past Chair of the Adagio Health Board and Vice-President/Publisher of Pittsburgh Magazine, Betsy Benson; and Adagio Health Board member and retired Pittsburgh Gastroenterologist, Dr. Paul Lebovitz.

This year’s honorees include:

  • Dr. Margaret Larkins-Pettigrew, Internationally recognized OB-GYN, educator, and advocate for improved maternal health outcomes.
  • Dr. Elizabeth “Liz” Miller, Chief of the Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and Physician leader committed to improving health outcomes for youth through research, policy, and clinical care.

  • BJ Leber, President and CEO of Adagio Health and a transformative women’s health leader who will be retiring at the end of this month.

Special guest speakers include Pennsylvania Second Lady Blayre Holmes Davis who also serves at Senior Director of Community Relations for the Pittsburgh Steelers; and Lisa Scales, President and CEO of Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and Chair of the Adagio Health Board. Allegheny County leaders, regional public health officials, and leaders from healthcare systems and nonprofit organizations throughout the region are also expected to attend.
