Adagio Health Names Alicia Schisler as Next President and CEO

The Adagio Health Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Alicia Schisler has been named the organization’s next President and Chief Executive Officer, effective September 1, 2025.

Alicia joined Adagio Health in 2018 as Chief of External Affairs and currently serves as Executive Vice President and Chief of Strategy. In her earlier role, she transformed the organization’s marketing and communications strategy—leading a departmental reorganization and elevating brand visibility, while working to strengthen relationships with partners, policymakers, and other stakeholders. As EVP and Chief of Strategy, Alicia has provided high-level oversight across multiple departments, bolstered internal collaboration, and led strategic planning efforts during a period of considerable external challenges, including major shifts in federal funding. Throughout her tenure, she has led with vision, drive, and a deep commitment to the organization’s mission—while helping to ensure Adagio Health remains strong, resilient, and responsive to the needs of the communities it serves.

She brings to the role a wealth of experience as an award-winning leader, strategist, and storyteller. Before joining Adagio Health, Alicia served in corporate communications and external affairs at Range Resources; and spent nearly 20 years at WQED Multimedia, where her healthcare and public affairs work earned multiple Emmy Awards and national recognition for excellence. Her background in healthcare communications, corporate strategy, and nonprofit leadership uniquely positions her to lead Adagio Health into its next chapter.

A proud graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and Leadership Pittsburgh XXXIX, Alicia completed the Yale School of Management’s Executive Education Women’s Leadership Program in 2024. She currently serves on the boards of The Midwife Center and the Mt. Lebanon Partnership.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the trust the board has placed in me,” said Alicia Schisler. “Adagio Health’s mission—to provide care and support for those who need it most—has never been more urgent. I’m proud to lead this organization and this team, especially at such a pivotal moment for women’s health, for access to care, and for the communities we serve.”

“Alicia has earned the respect of her peers, her team, and the board—and we have every confidence in her ability to guide the organization through whatever lies ahead,” said Lisa Scales, Board Chair of Adagio Health and President and CEO of Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. “As we move forward, we are thrilled to welcome Alicia Schisler into this new role. Her deep understanding of Adagio Health’s mission, operations, and impact makes her the right leader for this moment.”

This leadership transition follows the upcoming retirement of BJ Leber, who has served as President and CEO of Adagio Health since 2014. Under BJ’s leadership, the organization has expanded its reach and impact—growing access to reproductive health, cancer screening, nutrition, and preventive care throughout western Pennsylvania and beyond. Her legacy is one of strength, innovation, and compassion.

“It has been one of the great honors of my professional life to lead Adagio Health,” said BJ Leber. “I have had the privilege of working alongside incredibly dedicated staff, board members, and partners who care deeply about our work. I know Alicia will carry this mission forward with strength, vision, and heart.”

Adagio Health’s leadership transition reflects both the continuity and the commitment that have defined the organization for decades, as it continues its mission to improve health and wellbeing in western Pennsylvania and beyond.
