Adagio Health's Healthy Start House is a multi-faceted residential program in Duquesne, PA, near Pittsburgh. Healthy Start House's mission is to provide a safe environment and supportive services to homeless woman and their infants and children to help them prepare for independent living.

Healthy Start House provides:

  • bridge housing for up to 18 months for pregnant women and mothers of young children (10 years old or younger) who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Families staying at Healthy Start House may include up to four children.
  • education and support programs for women who are pregnant, mothers of young children, their partners and families.

Healthy Start House participants benefit from a variety of Adagio Health services, including family planning/ birth control, pregnancy care, nutrition counseling, HIV/AIDS education, and health screening.

The house can accommodate as many as six families. Each family suite has two bedrooms. The first floor suite is wheelchair-accessible and includes a private, wheelchair-accessible bathroom. 

In addition to the family suites, Healthy Start House has a teaching kitchen, computer resource center, children's activity room, lounges for residents and visitors, and a secure developmentally-appropriate outdoor playground and yard. The dining room doubles as a meeting room.

Healthy Start House is conveniently located on a residential street adjacent to the Duquesne business district and the public school campus. It is within two blocks of a community park, fire station, and police department. It is accessible by public transportation.
